Bombardment Induced Electron-Capture Processes at Sodium Halide Surfaces
Discrete features observed in the energy distribution of electrons emitted from ion-bombarded sodium halide surfaces can be attributed to a new type of collisional deexcitation mechanism. Such a mechanism involves sodium atoms in bombardment-excited autoionizing states that are the result of cascade collisions within the crystal lattice. This deexcitation process, in contrast to that for a meta...
متن کاملVegetative Growth of Potato under High- pressure Sodium, High-pressure Sodium SON-Agro, and Metal Halide Lamps
Potato (Solanum tuberosum L. cvs. Norland and Denali) plants were grown under high-pressure sodium (HPS), metal halide (MH), and blue-light-enhanced SON-Agro high-pressure sodium (HPS-S) lamps to study the effects of lamp spectral quality on vegetative growth. All plants were initiated from in vitro nodal cultures and grown hydroponically for 35 days at 300 μmol•m–2•s–1 photosynthetic photon fl...
متن کاملAlkali-Halide Chemiluminescence: Studies on the Fluctuation Bands from some Alkali (Li, Na, K)-Halogen (CI, Br, I)-Reactions
Molecular chemiluminescence spectra from selected alkali-halogen reactions are presented using a beam-gas arrangement operating with pressures between 10 -1 mtorr (single collision conditions) up to 10 mtorr in the reaction zone. Spectra are presented for the chemiluminescent reactions M2 + X 2 > M X * + MX, where M2 = K 2 , Na2 and X 2 = C12, Br2 ,12 . The MX* emitter is identified by comparis...
متن کاملDissecting ion-specific dielectric spectra of sodium-halide solutions into solvation water and ionic contributions.
Using extensive equilibrium molecular dynamics simulations we determine the dielectric spectra of aqueous solutions of NaF, NaCl, NaBr, and NaI. The ion-specific and concentration-dependent shifts of the static dielectric constants and the dielectric relaxation times match experimental results very well, which serves as a validation of the classical and non-polarizable ionic force fields used. ...
متن کاملSolvent effects and hydration of a tripeptide in sodium halide aqueous solutions: an in silico study.
In this work we are trying to gain insight into the mechanisms of ion-protein interactions in aqueous media at the molecular scale through fully atomistic molecular dynamics simulations. We present a systematic molecular simulation study of interactions of sodium and halide ions with a trialanine peptide in aqueous sodium halide solutions with different salts concentrations (0.20, 0.50, 1.0 and...
